Windows 2000 Server & Norton Utilities

09:00am Jan 23, 2004 PST (#1 of 2)

In reading the "15 Tips for Preventing Data Damage" under #7, it talks about disk fragmentation and using Norton Utilities to find and repair disk problems. We have Windows 2000 Server and can't seem to find a version of Norton Utilities that will work with it. I tried contacting Symantec but they don't answer my question but do tell me that they "no longer provide interactive technical assistance for 2002 and earlier versions". Is there a version of Norton Utilities that will work with Windows 2000 Server? If not, is there another software program out there that will work like Norton Utilities on Windows 2000 Server? I just want to keep things running smoothly on C&P as much as I can.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The program you need is called Disk Keeper. It is published by Executive Software, and considered the industry standard. www.diskkeeper.com. Symantec doesn't make a defrag program for servers anymore.
