Restricting Users to Various Jobs |

I am trying to determine how to restrict the user access for various jobs so that time cannot be misallocated (intentionally or not) to a job that the user is not working on. C&P needs the ability to restrict user's ability to enter time towards jobs that are currently open. Right now there is the ability to restrict user access by "client" but that is worthless. As a full service design and marketing firm every client we have has more than one job and the people who work on the various jobs may change. So basically, there needs to be a restriction by job so that we can make sure that time is not misallocated. I believe this is well beyond a wish list item as it completely eliminates accurate time and productivity tracking! Anyone else know of a way to at least temporarily fix this while C&P staff works on it? In addition to client jobs, we have administrative jobs for each employee to track non-client related work. But as it is, I could log many hours under someone else57;s admin job to make my 60;Time Card61; look much better than what it actually is. Thanks,

Russell,
The primary concern I had when designing the time keeping system was to accurately track how staff members spend their time. If someone works on job "A" then their time needs be tracked against job "A" since that's how they actually spent their time.
Clients & Profits tries to prevent people from working on the wrong job in different ways (i.e., restricting access in lookup lists, status code limitations, etc.) but in the end can't keep someone from working on something they weren't supposed to. That's a function of production manager, who allocates the work to who's available.
In this case, all Clients & Profits can do is make recording time as quick and as easy as possible for the employees, then provide tools and reports for managers to make better decisions. It's worked this way for 15 years, so it's a methodology that's proven to work very well in this industry.
I'm always open to suggestions, so I'll definitely add your request to the wish list for a future upgrade. I'm sure there's a way we can make it work better for you.

Eachl of our staff members has their own task code. When we open a new job, we pull in a certain spec sheet, but then you can go into that job and delete whatever task code (staff member) that shouldn't be posting time to that job. Make sure they're set up to not be able to add tasks to jobs.
