Homogenouse MacOS 9 and MacOS X Clients

11:50am Dec 3, 2002 PST (#1 of 3)

I need to hear from others using both OS 9 and OS X clients

My scenario, I have 95% OS 9 clients and 5% OS X (10.2.2) clients. We upgrade to C&P Pro 4.10 and it does not work on OS X. Our OS X clients get an error "unable to open larsen.db1". If I get everyone to log out I can log in as an OS X client and there after OS 9 clients can log in but NO other OS X clients. Once I log out I cannot get back in. I had similar experiences with the 4.08 update (the first version which claimed OS X compatibility) which was pulled and a new version of 4.08 posted. I need to know if I am just the tail chasing the dog or if this really works in a blended environment such as we have. Let me know! I need some encouragement in a time when I am getting totally discouraged with this program. Support had some suggestions but no solution.

Database resides on a G4 ASIP 6.3.3 server Clients are OS 9.2.2 and OS 10.2.2

OS 9 clients work fine, no problem there.

I occasionally get this problem and it's frustrating. I do not know why it happens, but it can be fixed.

Run database utilities and select all, then run a "repair selected files." I have been following that with "reindex selected files" and then an export/import process because of my needs, so I'm not sure at which point along that chain the problem is fixed.

When you say you have this problem occasionally, does this mean you have had to run your "fix" more than once?
