Changing Servers

12:41pm Dec 11, 2000 PST (#1 of 4)

Our agency has been thinking of changing from a Novell server to a NT server. We currently have 23 PC users and 6 Mac users on our system. We have heard all positive things about NT and nothing negative. Has any one experienced or heard anything negative about the NT server? If so, what? It is a big step for us and we just want to make sure we are going the right direction.

We made the change a little over a year ago and we're extremely happy with the switch. The server is easier to maintain and we've had no network problems with C&P since the switch. Go for it!

Just be aware that if your thinking about going to NT, Microsoft will no longer be supporting this OS come January 1, 2001. Which means you will more than likely have to upgrade to Windows Server 2000. You might consider going to that OS today.

I have been servicing and supporting NT systems with Mac's attached for over 5 years and from the user standpoint, they are very stable systems.
