I am looking for help as to which program/database is the best to use to archive files. Our files containing photos, artwork, etc. are now all on CD. We would like to input this information into an easily accessible database. It is my understanding that there are programs out there that allow you to access the information in different ways other than by Job # only. We use mainly Mac's. Therefore, we would need a compatible program. Thanks in advance for all your help.

We are all mac and use Retrospect for archiving on DAT. And we use Portfolio as a visual database.

HmmS Easy & accessible can be two different things when it comes to a database. I've used Cumulus. It is a very powerful program, available in an individual or network version. It does a terrific job of archiving photos, text, artwork, documents, etc. But the interface is somewhat daunting. It also works best when using a numerical cataloging system (don't call the photo "Yellow Dog.tif", call it "00956122" ). Then you have to make sure you keep track of images & art carefully. No number, slim chance of finding the artwork. But check out their site: http://www.creator2.com/products/cumulus/index.shtml

We have usee a really basic but effective program called CatFinder for years. You can find a review of it at www.yippee.net/html/mac/utilities/title9056.htm, the download from "author" site is www.mindspring.com/~shdtree/ It is Mac only.
