Trafficking Little Jobs |
11:19am May 30, 2001 PST (#1 of 3) I have been reading the message board and really liked the idea of putting the production schedule on a wall board so that everyone could see where projects were. The dilemma that we face is that we have over 200 active "little jobs" that do not necessarily require a big schedule calendar, but still need to get scheduled and out the door. Does anyone have any thoughts on how we might schedule all of these jobs without going through the time consuming process of putting a date to every milestone for every job?
Thanks in advance! Stephanie 11:20am May 30, 2001 PST (#2 of 3) Maybe a task/milestone for these small jobs that simply tracks proof/delivery as two key dates? Susan Medlin 11:20am May 30, 2001 PST (#3 of 3) When you write "big schedule calendar," I'm assuming you mean scheduling each task on the job with a start and due date through the Job Schedule window. You could make use of the ballpark scheduling tool to speed up the process of scheduling the work.
Or if all you really need to do is assign someone to do the work without putting in a due date, you could use the job's traffic assignments. Traffic assignments are the key positions in your shop, like art director, production manager or copywriter.
Once you enter these positions into Setup > Preferences > Jobs, they appear on each job in its Traffic window. For an individual job, you type in the initials of the staffer that will fulfill that position.
Traffic assignments serve two purposes. One, they are used as report parameters for many of the Traffic reports in Clients & Profits. This feature allows key staffers in your shop to produce their own traffic reports for only the jobs with which they are associated.
Two (and this is the part I thought would apply for you), you can print a report called Traffic Hot Sheet (Snapshots > Production > Hot Sheets > Traffic Hot Sheet) which shows the initials of the staffers who have been assigned to a job's traffic assignments. So, for the jobs that don't warrant a full schedule, using traffic assignments may be enough. Mindy Williams Clients & Profits Helpdesk |
