Unbilled vs. Unbillable Time |

Has anyone found a method whereby they can track billable vs billed time (or unbilled time) by staff? I would like to show our senior management where we are leaving money on the table å often caused by staffers entering time late (after the job is billed) or individual staff members going way over estimated hours etc. I use the Ìstaff time by jobñ report but that only tells me what hours are Ìbillableñ - not what we actually billed. To date, I have to go through each job and look at time for each staffer manually å this is slow and painful.

I went through the same problem recently. What I have found so far (I am still looking an easier way) is located: snapshots> productivity> staff utilization> staff realization. This report will show you a few things: a YTD total and a date range of your choosing. It provides a figure of total hours entered and total hours billed. It will show what percentage of time was billed vs. total time entered.
A report that I've used along with this is: snapshots> productivity> staff utilization> billable/ unbillable time summary. This report shows what time was entered for a specific time period by breaking it up between billable and unbillable time.
I can't get either report to breakdown any further...

I don't have any good suggestions for you re: the report you desire. However, the way we keep our staffers from entering time after a job is billed is to immediately close all jobs that have been billed. Then they can't enter time that will never be looked at or billed, assuming you have that preference selected under each user's access.

Have you seen the reports under "Snapshots/Productivity/Staff Utilization"? They may help.

How about snapshots/job costs/job costs and then select only time, and give it the date range and production status' you want to see? This is useful, because it gives all time: billed, unbilled, and unbillable. But, it does not subtotal this by category, but just by task and job. It is too detailed for some things, but it has some advantages over the staff realization report. When you have not billed a job yet, the time does not show up on the staff realization report as billed time. On the other hand, the staff utilization report in the same section does give you all billable time, whether it has been billed or not.
Hope this helps.
