Payment Terms

11:08am Jan 2, 2002 PST (#1 of 8)

Our payment terms are currently "payable upon receipt". I am considering changing them and wanted to find out what terms other agencies use.

Thanks,

Net Due 30 days. I have two big accounts that pay Net 45, but I am able to access their auto voice system that tells me when payments are scheduled so it helps with planning.

I try to bill either 50/50, 100 up front or net 30. I have been lucky in that I do not have to charge any finance fees. If someone take longer than 30 days on one invoice, I insist they pay me up front on next job. It seems to work out.

Net 30 since many companies consider "upon receipt" as payable in 30 days.

We're a design agency, and use terms of Net 30. The only exception is, obviously, billed advances for a job which are due on presentation.

We use net upon receipt as well. It appears our clients pay within 30 days, however, when it comes to collateral and broadcast clients, we are paying those out of pockets up front, and at the proposal stage our clients know what our terms are. It seems typical in the service industry that terms are "net." It is very similar to CPA firms and law firms.
