Billing Rate Increase |

Looking for information regarding raising billing rates. Do you raise rates every year...what do you base it on? How many of you have a fixed flat rate with your clients...Do you lower the rate once you reach various levels of billings??
Thanks,

We've raised our billing rates only once in five years. We are considering a rate increase again, but will hold off until latter part of 2001. The economy might not support a rate increase in our area immediately.
BUT - I say this frequently - we don't charge the client by the hour. We value price the job and use internal billing rates as a measure of how we're doing. Plus we have the "what the market will bear" attitude towards billing.
Never lower your rate. You might discount a job now and again, but never lower your rate.
