I am taking Accounting I and need some help with a Problem/Exercise(Textbook) and would appreciate help via direct e-mail. |

Annual Accounting Fee
How much do you spend annually for external accounting? We think we may be over-paying our accounting firm and we would like some comparisons. Our accountant is responsible for quarterly and yearly financial statements (due to adjustments for depreciation). |

Billing-to-Net Rate Ratio
What is a common bill-to-net rate ratio in today's agency? In particular, what are the prevailing ratios for: (1) Account Service (2) Creative (3) Production |

Billing Best Practices
Typically, we bill once a month, at the end of the month. Due to the large number of jobs, this is a process that takes 10+ days. We are now required to complete our billing in less than 5 days after the month end. Barring cutting the month off early, we're looking to understand how other agencies bill such that our billing can be completed in less than 5 business days. |

CA Sales Tax
We ship product to multiple counties in CA and WA. Including counties with different sales tax rates. Often, on the same invoice we have 4-5 different county rates. C&P only allows for 2 sales tax rates. Is there anybody who has the same problem? And how did you solve it? |

Cell Phone Reimbursement
I am curious as to how many of you have a policy for cell phone expense reimbursement. Or do you perhaps pay a monthly allowance? If you have a reimbursement policy, I am curious as to that policy. |

Chart of Accounts
How best to organize an agency's chart of accounts. I am curious how other agency's organize their chart of accounts. Whether first by revenue source and then by project type: |

dGL Description in A/P Window
When we setup vendors in C&P, we can setup one standard cGL and one standard cost dGL account for that vendor. In the A/P window, as we enter A/P for our suppliers, once in a while we need to use different cost dGL or use multiple dGLs. The problem is when entering these dGLs, the system does not show the description of the dGL we just entered. |

Financial Projections
I would like to know how other C&P users compile financial projections. I type our projections in excel and calculate Gross profit off of our projected billings by multiplying projected billings by our avg. gross profit percentages. Pretty straight forward but what I am interested in is how do you compile your projected billings. Using history for some media clients can be helpful but collateral billing is not as straight forward. |

General Ledger
I was trying to run a YTD Detailed General Ledger for my accountant through the end of the 3rd quarter in mid October. But there was no "Selected Periods" option for that report, only YTD (through today's date) or quarter by quarter. Can anyone tell me how they get that? |

GST
We're an Australian company and one of only three nation-wide currently using C&P. Our government is introducing a Goods & Services Tax on 1st July and I am interested in the best way of tracking GST payments and credit inputs on C&P. |

Month End
I'm curious, for example, today is a new month and I will not officially month end for another couple of days. With this in mind, how do I continue to enter my payables and receivables? Manipulate the dates and periods? or how does everyone else handle this? |

Monthly Projections
Has anyone come up with a good way to do projections using C&P Classic? We have created an Excel spread sheet to look at each client's income and job costs on a month-to-month basis. We print out the Income Statement for Client P&L analysis each month and manually update the spreadsheet. |

Need C&P Accountant
After spending countless hours over the last year on the phone with C&P support, our bookkeeper/accountant has given us her resignation. She'll stay if we switch to Quick Books or another standard. In Nov. 2002, we posted a request for any leads for C&P accounting help in the Denver and got no replies. |

NYC Sales Tax
If anyone has any conclusive policy on this I would be grateful if you could provide it, how long you've been invoicing this way, and whether you received your understanding from an accountant, lawyer or NYC directly. |

Partial Taxes
We are having trouble including partial taxes on our invoices. Because C&P does everything by task, we are challenged to tax only a part of the costs on a task. When our accountant talked with C&P, they recommended that we add a new task and include in that task only the taxable costs and make it taxable. Right now the way we are handling it is to create one extra task per job, back out the taxable amounts, and place them in this task and make it fully taxed. |

Presidents Expenses
Our President's out-of-pocket expenses are currently reimbursed at the end of the year. Has anyone formulated a method to track something like this in C & P, as the software does not cover this? |

Profit Centers
Does anyone use profit centers? My company recently merged with a printer- and I'm trying to convince the new addition to come on board with C&P, utilizing each division as a profit center. Does anyone have any advice or experience in dealing with divisions? |

Purchase Order Approval
I'm trying to determine how other companies go about the purchase order approval process. I currently review and approve purchase orders for print etc but after approval I get multiple requests to unlock purchase orders from production because they need to do updates. Is this something that other companies run into? |

Sales Tax Application
This is what I learned. The creative services portion is non-taxable because it is a service. Under the old regulations there was room for discussion as to how much of the services were "final" art verses "preliminary art". |

Suspense Account
It has been suggested to us that we use the Suspense Account in Clients and Profits to help us manage an ongoing problem -- media invoices being posted a month or two AFTER the client has been billed for the media placement. |
