
Here's something I can't believe:
Clients & Profits
is 20.
When Lisa and I started Clients & Profits in 1986, we never
dreamed that it would be so popular.
Back then, agencies using
personal computers were rare. Everyone tracked jobs and costs and
billings with paper job jackets, notebooks -- and lots of post-it
notes.
The big agencies had mainframe and mini-computers that managed
the accounting, while smaller shops might have an old Apple II
running a bookkeeping program. In both cases, creatives
and the production departments were left on their own.
That changed with Clients & Profits.
From the beginning Clients & Profits focused on the creative
side: job
tickets, estimates, schedules, and traffic. And it was only for
the
(then-new) Macintosh. It was so novel that MacUser Magazine offered
us
free advertising space (ah, those were the days). We premiered the
software at the 1987 MacWorld Expo and it was an instant hit.
There was nothing like Clients & Profits back then, and those
first few
versions seemed so powerful (little did I know). But it took several
more
years for us to realize how much more it needed to do. So we kept
at it.
It didn't take long
before Clients & Profits was the industry
standard. By 1993, it was the leading agency management system
for Mac and Windows.
Today, Clients & Profits the only complete
job tracking and accounting system that's designed for Mac OS X
-- and the only one that can handle any kind of shop, from a
two-person startup to a full-service ad agency with multiple offices.
In 20 years we've seen dozens of
competitors come and go (remember Adman? AdMonitor? TIES? AdWare?
We don't either.) We like to think we've made it because of superior
software and awesome customer service.
But I know the real reason
is the quality of our users. After working with thousands of clients,
we know now that software is only as good as the people who use
it. And we've been fortunate to have the best clients any company
could ask for.
I'd like to personally thank you and your staff throughout
the years for choosing Clients & Profits. Everyone here at Clients & Profits,
Inc. owes its success to your support.

in the works for this year, our 20th in business. And we have lots
